Living on a budget, eating healthy, sustaining it on our own and in community

Welcome to my blog!

So, I have decided to start a blog because, well, apparently that’s just the thing to do these days if you have anything to talk about…So, pictured here is my husband and me…

My intention with this blog is first and foremost that it would bring glory and honor to the Lord Jesus Christ by blessing others.

I have a passion for God’s word and for taking seriously His commandment to be good stewards of what He’s given us. That includes our bodies, our minds, and our souls…

As a mother and a wife I want to share my love for food and for figuring out ways to make more things yourself in order to have a better product and save tons of money. I want to share my transition out of being just a consumer and into being a producer myself.

Of course God didn’t design us to be isolated from each other and independent from one another (Proverbs 18:18). We need one another and no one can be completely self-reliant  without having serious problems. But I believe the framework and system we have in our post-industrialized world is based largely on greed and not based on what’s in the best interest of the people and the environment.

So many of us have been stuck in a blind consumer mindset and we aren’t really aware of how we were designed to live while on this earth. For God made us with a purpose and He has a perfect design. He does all things well (Mark 7:37). Though sin has stained His original creation, we can be responsible in our knowledge and understanding of the way things are, and how we respond to those truths.

My goal for myself and my family is that we would manage our finances wisely, generously, and with discretion. Also, that we would care for our bodies by eating healthy and with self-control. While we don’t have to be anxious for our health and fearful in what we do or don’t eat (Philippians 4:6), we can know that we will reap what we sow in all our choices (Galatians 6:7).

We can balance being frugal with our finances and choosing healthy foods and natural homemade products for our families instead of just blindly believing everything we hear or read through mass media. We know that this world is corrupt and greed is a key factor beyond many, if not most, marketing techniques. I would like to share what I have learned so far in my experience.

I do not profess to have everything figured out, but if I can shed light on anything and help anyone to manage their home better in the area of groceries/cooking/home products it would be a great joy for me!
